Updated COBRA Qualifying Event Notice Scheduled for September 2013

With Healthcare Reform’s open enrollment for new state-based health insurance just around the corner, COBRA Solutions will be updating the COBRA Qualifying Event Notice to include information on the 2014 law changes. The expected release date for the updated notice is late August to early September 2013. You will receive the revised notice by updating your software through the normal methods. Health Care Reform and COBRA

Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the national health care reform, we must not assume that COBRA is no longer needed. In fact, employee based health care may become more attractive than ever once everyone is required to obtain health coverage. This new mandated individual coverage will quite likely be more expensive and less comprehensive than employer based coverage; therefore, individuals will still seek the right to continue their group health plan and employers will likely continue to offer group health care as a benefit to attract and retain employees.
